My personal Soundtrack for 2012: Best Albums/Mixtapes

2012 was a great year for me. I really fell in love with music again. As a fan of lyricism, my usual favorites where a big let down, **cough NaS cough**, I twitted when and it came out and I remain convinced that "Life is Good" was BULLSHIT. Some of the big releases where eclipsed by their warm up "mixtapes" which goes to prove that the Labels are seriously fucking our favourite artists on their Studio releases. Thank God these dudes can circumvent the madness and give us some gems on the side.

Its also be a fucking dope year for African/Zimbabwean Hiphop. So this here is a list of the Albums that have received numerous plays in my car and at all the "Disease" Braais I host monthly.  When I grow old, playing any of these records will bring back 2012 VIVIDLY!

Tehn Diamond - #SOTG3

My favorite release of 2012. a masterpiece, well crafted victory to lyricism, dope beats, and art. Most played in my car since march. I know pretty much every song word for word.

Rick Ross - Rich Forever

Second most played in my iTunes/iPhone/Car. This should have been the album, coz God Forgives couldn't match it.

Raiza Biza - Dream Something LP

The sneak attack record, which Raiza gave away free. I have played this record to many times to count and its inspirational. Dope Beats, Dope Rhymes.

Meek Mill - Dream Chasers 2

Remember when this mixtape dropped. Was in the studio with @itskarizma and @IamRootz, who literally counted down for the link to drop on Datpiff and downloaded straight away. I put a copy on my flash stick and played it im the ride for 2 months straight after.

2 Chainz - Based on a TRU story

This dude is simple and ignorant. I instinctively should loathe this guy and his music, but he's entertained me this year! 2 Chaaaaaaiiiiinnnnnz!!!!

G.O.O.D Music - Cruel Summer

Insanely good compilation album by Yezzy and friends. fucking love it!

Synik's Syn City

Detaching all personal involvement (disclaimer: Produced the album), purely listening on an objective... This was the best moment in Zimbabawe Hiphop EVER. The serious amount of talent our little country processes was distilled into 50 minutes of listening pleasure. Synik is a pure lyricist who isn't too "deep" to connect. The Producers on the decks... FTR, Yaggi, Shayzar, 5qua5h, Reverd 7, Dutch, Metaphysics... All world class. The MC's, Vocalists, Musicians... a truly GREAT MOMENT!

anyways...

This is my Soundtrack 2012. Hoping 2013 is as great or greater!
